HÖBAL SPOON uses wood from forests that are not typically used as timber.
We've created a format that allows us to directly communicate the story behind the materials to those who use them.
The presentation box is made of paper with a color and texture that doesn't detract from the subtle sheen of the lacquer and the texture of the tree bark, while the labels and captions are made of hemp paper to add just the right amount of texture.
The cushioning material inside is made from the by-products of the carving process. We hope you can appreciate not only the subtle lingering scent, but also the rhythm that comes from handcrafted work created from a single knife.

Prunus grayana trees that grew in a forest with steep slopes.
Encountering a specimen with such beautiful and thin bark is a rare find.
We are working with this tree every day, aiming to make the most of its strengths, as it will be a core tree for 2026.
Use the main part for meals, or just the tip for desserts.
A spoon with a large surface area would be useful for serving smaller portions.
The surface, finished with wiped lacquer, has a glossy texture.
I believe you will find it very pleasant to use.
The bark is left on the handle.

Japan is one of the world's leading countries in terms of forests, but in recent years, fewer people have been entering the forests.
My awareness is there, but my steps are only slight.
The number of people who can protect the forests and utilize their resources is also decreasing.
Green Fund donations are used for forest maintenance activities nationwide, forest environment education for future generations, and disaster recovery support.
Making use of the blessings from the forest and giving back to the forest
I hope that there will be ways of creating and expanding the scope of artwork beyond just consumption.
